Accountant CV for Saudi Arabia: IFRS, ZATCA E-Invoicing, SAP and SOCPA (2026)

If you’re writing an accountant CV for Saudi Arabia, the reader usually wants clear answers to a few questions. Which standards have you worked under? What’s your Zakat and tax experience? Which systems do you use? Which professional credentials do you hold? This guide covers how to present each one accurately.

Accounting standards: list what you’ve actually worked with

Name the standards you’ve prepared or reviewed financial statements under, such as IFRS or IFRS for SMEs, and then define your role: preparing statements, monthly and year-end close, reconciliations, or supporting the external audit. These are illustrative examples of phrasing:

  • Example: Prepared annual IFRS financial statements for a distribution company with 3 branches and coordinated with the external auditor through to sign-off.
  • Example: Cut the monthly close from 10 working days to 6 by automating bank reconciliations.

The figures above are for illustration only. Use your own real numbers, and if you’re not sure of them, describe the scope and outcome in words. If you’ve worked at an audit firm, name the sectors your clients were in, your role on the audit team, and the kind of work you owned.

Zakat, VAT, and e-invoicing

Experience with the requirements of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) is a core part of an accountant CV in Saudi Arabia, so give it enough detail:

  • Preparing or reviewing VAT returns.
  • Preparing or contributing to Zakat returns.
  • E-invoicing (Fatoora): issuing invoices that meet the requirements, or taking part in integrating the accounting system with ZATCA’s platform.
  • Withholding tax, and responding to ZATCA queries and findings.

Be precise about what you did. "Responsible for tax" is vague; "Prepared VAT returns for a trading company and resolved reconciliation differences" shows your level. ZATCA’s requirements can be updated, so if you refer to a specific phase or requirement, check the official wording on zatca.gov.sa and use it as written.

Accounting systems and ERP

Name each system and your level of use. "SAP" on its own isn’t enough; say which module and what work, for example SAP FI/CO for journal entries and reporting, Oracle for payables and receivables, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, or Zoho Books.

If you took part in implementing a new system or migrating data from an old one, that deserves its own line. And instead of "proficient in Excel", say what you actually use: pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, and reporting templates.

Professional credentials: SOCPA and others

SOCPA (الهيئة السعودية للمراجعين والمحاسبين) is the Saudi professional body for the accounting and auditing profession. If you hold one of its professional credentials or are working towards one, state your status accurately and use the credential name exactly as it appears on socpa.org.sa.

List international credentials you actually hold, such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, or CIA, and make the status clear: qualified, part-qualified, or studying. Accuracy matters here, because an employer may verify it.

Before you apply

Put professional credentials near the top, group systems and standards in a clear Skills section, and keep the formatting plain, with one column and no tables, so the key terms are read correctly.
